STAMINA® Massage Therapy

Each muscle has an optimal alignment. Muscles are similar to guy wires on a suspension bridge. If one of the guy wires (or muscles) is pushed or pulled in the wrong direction this will lead to tension and/or weakness on the structure, resulting in compensation. This concept is not new to structural engineers but it is new to rehabilitative therapy.

Muscle mal-alignment is commonly caused by an accident or injury, daily tasks that are done on a repetitive basis or through poor posturing habits.

Symptoms of muscle mal-alignment such as pain, achiness, limited range of motion, and numbness, may range from mild to severe.

STAMINA® has identified stabilizing load management muscles™ in 14 regions in the body. When these muscles are optimally aligned it eliminates compensation problems and painful symptoms.

Your STAMINA® Certified Registered Massage Therapist is professionally trained to treat muscular dysfunctions using innovative STAMINA® muscle alignment techniques. This occurs in a continuous massage flow which is therapeutic while at the same time relaxing.

Each session is customized to suit the particular condition or needs of the patient.

STAMINA® first evolved into a full body rehabilitative system, STAMINA® Rehabilitation Therapy that treats muscular and skeletal dysfunction. STAMINA® is a measurable system that uses gold standard muscle testing methods to rate muscle strength and stability. The results are recorded on a performance scale chart from a score of 0-100.

The STAMINA® Rehabilitation therapists noticed a repeated pattern of weakened muscle scores after a patient had been for conventional massage therapy. Through further research it was determined that the direction that tissues were moved had a direct effect on muscle strength and stability.

Due to this discovery, STAMINA® Therapeutic Massage Courses have been developed as post graduate training for registered massage therapists.

Charting Your Progress

STAMINA® has a unique charting system that records the results of muscle performance, strength and stability. This provides not only valuable information for assessment and treatment but becomes a record to verify the effectiveness of treatment.

A STAMINA® Therapeutic Massage session can include up to 36 muscle isolation tests (dependant on the length of the massage and your condition) that are integrated throughout the continuous massage flow.

The muscle testing allows your brain to recognize that a muscle is restored to optimal alignment and once again available. On the post testing compensation patterns and pain signals are reduced or eliminated immediately.

This results in longer lasting and cumulative benefits with STAMINA® Therapeutic Massage.

It has been long thought that we need to “work something out” to get relief from muscle and fascial tension during massage.

This “no pain no gain” approach releases endorphins which can mask a relief, but it is often temporary. Deep tissue work can also cause bruising of the soft tissues.

Any conventional massage (whether deep or light pressure) performed with incorrect direction of the tissues can result in mal-alignment or weakening of the muscles.

Muscle distress and tension occurs when we use the wrong muscle for a task or in our normal daily posture. The more compensation and dysfunction of the stabilizing load management muscles™, the greater the tension.

We have found that the tension vanishes when we align the stabilizing load management muscles™, ending compensation and distress.

So with STAMINA® Massage Therapy your therapist doesn’t need to “work it out” with deep pressure. With the proper alignment of the tissues during your massage treatment the tension is naturally released.

If you prefer or are used to a firm, deeper pressure with massage therapy this can be accommodated with the STAMINA® Massage therapist moving the tissues in the correct direction for optimal muscle alignment at all times.

Traditionally massage therapy has been known to improve many aspects of well being and health. STAMINA® Therapeutic Massage incorporates all of these benefits and more.
